 Andorra is the venue that has been chosen for the 2023 Alpine Ski World Cup Finals. The Grandvalira sectors of Soldeu and El Tarter will host the 25 best skiers in all alpine disciplines from 13 to 19 March. It was confirmed this morning at the Autumn Meeting of the International Ski Federation (FIS) held in Zurich. Andorra was competing for this event against two great countries with a long tradition in alpine skiing. On the one hand, Switzerland with the candidacy of Lenzerheide and, on the other, Norway with Kvitfjell-Hafjell in Lillehammer.

The process was highly contentious with the Norwegians getting 6 votes in the first round, while Andorra received 7 and Switzerland 2. The latter was left out for the second round, with the Pyrenees resort taking the majority.

The Andorran delegation was led by the president and manager of the Andorran Ski Federation (FAE), Josep Pintat and Carles Visa respectively; the director of Grandvalira-Ensisa and head of the World Cup project, David Hidalgo; the member of the Board of ENSISA, Conrad Blanch; the general secretary of the World Cup, Marc Mitjana; and the new race leader, Santi López.

Speed Skiing World Cup

Progress was also made in Zurich in coordinating the Speed Skiing that will take place in the Grau Roig sector from 2 to 4 April 2020. We must also remember that the Riberal piste will receive the fastest skiers in the world for the 2021 World Championships.

The head of the Speed Skiing World Cup, Nadal Antor, and part of his technical team with Toni Crespo and Bernat Escoda travelled to the Swiss city.
